Jane walked into the garden one Saturday morning. She didn't have class's to day but she got up early anyway. The sun was just rising. There was no one here yet. She had the garden all to herself for now. She sat under and tree for several minutes watching the sun rise. Soon she heard the sound of leave crunching. Someone els way here.

Safira had donned her midnight blue winter cloak over jeans and a pale blue button-down shirt. On her feet she wore faux-fur boots, with the skinny jeans tucked inside of them. Her mother had offered to send her real furs, but Safira had refused. She wasn't going to walk around with death on her feet. She drew the hood of her cloak, it was bitterly cold. She had been planning on going to Hogsmeade that morning, but got sidetracked when she saw the gardens. Safira then saw that it was the rude Hufflepuff, Jane Peterson, and lingered toward the entrance, unsure of whether to talk to her or not.

Jane saw Safira entering. She glared at her evilly. How dare she come and disturb her peace. Could she see that she wanted privacy. She didn't say anything but held her glare. She didn't take her eyes off her for a moment. She wouldn't until she left.

Safira stood, not acting intimidated by Jane's intense glare. It took a lot to make her frightened of somebody. But she was not going to be mean either. "Hi Jane," Safire said with a small smile, acting as if she had not noticed she was being glared at. Perhaps the Hufflepuff just needed a friend. Or maybe she had fallen on rough times, so many at Hogwarts already had. "I was going to head down to the Three Broomsticks for a butterbeer," said Safira. "Do you want to come with me?"

Jane gasped. This was really shocking. Hadn't she noticed her glare. How could she not of? Why was she smiling and saying hi? Then she asked her to the Three Broomsticks for butterbeer. "Umm... ok" she replied. Did she just agree to go. Why? She didn't want to go. Well she didn't have a choice now.

Jane's reply shocked Safira, as she had been figuring that Jane would continue to glare at her. Well, there was a first time for everything she supposed. She smiled. "Great," Safira said, genuinely pleased. She never liked to go by her lonesome, it was kind of sad. Perhaps she might figure out what Jane was so upset about.

Oh great she was continuing her stupid happy smiling. It sickened Jane. Now she was stuck going to the Three Broomsticks with her. She got up and walked towered her. She didn't bother to try to look even sort of happy. She wasn't. Well at least it would give her something to do.

Safira slowed her walking, she naturally took long and frequent steps to get to wherever she was going much faster than the average person. She fell into pace with Jane. She figured that the Hufflepuff wasn't really one for conversation. Without even thinking about it, Safira cleared their path of snow and ice as they walked. It was just something that happened, she never realized she did anything, unless someone mentioned it.

Jane watched Safira clear their path. It was kind of odd. Why bother? It's munch easier to just walk right threw the snow. True your feet would get a little wet and cold but who really cares. She didn't say anything about it. After all she didn't know what she could say about it.

Safira stuck her hands inside her pockets to warm them. The silence was bothering her deeply. She had always been one for a good conversation about deep matters, silence could sometimes drive her crazy. But for once, Jane wasn't glaring at her, or showing any signs of being hostile toward her. She couldn't stand the silence any longer. "Not one for conversation, are you?" said Safira, then immediately felt that she shouldn't have said anything at all.

Jane shout her an evil glare again. Yes she wasn't one for conversation and she knew that. Safira didn't have to point it out. She was so annoying. She wanted to run away from her but she didn't.

Apparently that had no been the right thing to say at the moment. Safira fell silent again. Hopefully one of her good friends, Angel Potter, would be on shift this morning. She seemed to work even more hours at the Three Broomsticks since she dropped out of school. She had a feeling it was going to be a long walk to Hogsmeade.

They didn't speak to each other for the rest of the walk. Their weren't many others outside and no one that they knew. It was almost complete silence. After minutes which seemed like hours they were finely only a few feet away from the Three Broomsticks.

Safira reached for the door and pulled it open for Jane, it seemed to be only the polite thing to do. The pub was empty, as most people probably thought it a bit too early for a drink. Safira felt that butterbeer was good at any time of day. Especially with a little bit of ginger and cinnamon. "How about there?" Safira asked, pointing to a nearby table.

Jane walked in without saying thank you to Safira for opening the door. "Sure" she replied when Safira gave a suggestion for a table. Jane could care less about which tabla they sat at. She didn't know why Safira did.
